The Phi Delta Chi Alpha Gamma chapter was founded in 1923 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a desire and passion to establish brotherhood and pharmacy excellence among its members. This year it celebrates it’s 100th anniversary. Celebrate with the fraternity, and take a glimpse into its past, with this photo journey.

Brandon Cashwell, PharmD Candidate ’25 and Phi Delta Chi Worthy Master of Arms, shares reflections on the Centennial Celebration:

For 100 years, the Phi Delta Chi Alpha Gamma Chapter has seen its members develop as leaders in the pharmacy space, ranging from pioneering pharmacy practice in local communities, to establishing clinical excellence, to being leaders within industry. On April 14th and 15th of 2023, our Chapter was able to celebrate its Centennial and reconnect with various generations of Phi Delta Chi Alpha Gamma brothers. This celebration was a great opportunity for alumni brothers to reconnect with old friends and colleagues, and for collegiate brothers to visualize the excellence and legacy that the fraternity seeks to achieve.

Festivities began with our social event on the night of April 14th to allow for casual networking between alumni and collegiate brothers. Then, on the morning of the 15th, collegiate brothers led walking tours of the School to explain the changes in recent years and to show the typical day of a student at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Stephanie Kiser, the first female president of the chapter, gave a CE Presentation on the topic of “Opportunities for Practice Advancement in Local Areas of NC” for attendees, displaying the fraternity’s commitment to ongoing education for all brothers.

Finally, during our banquet event at the Rizzo Center on the night of April 15th, all brothers were able to come together over dinner and hear speeches by previous and current leaders of the fraternity. It was a great way to cap off Centennial Celebrations and to spark a renewed energy among brothers to continue the same drive and passion for excellence that was seen when the fraternity was initially founded in 1923. The chapter looks forward to developing relations with alumni and using their wisdom and experience to guide collegiate brothers on their pharmacy journey.
