Each year, thousands of fourth-year pharmacy students across the country apply for PGY1 residencies. These soon-to-be-graduates are then matched with residency programs nation-wide. The first round of matching occurred on March 15th and, once again, the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy had an excellent match rate with 77% of students who registered from the School matching with a residency program for PGY1, according to statistics from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacicts (ASHP).* This was the second highest ASHP PGY1 residency match rate among schools of pharmacy in the U.S. with 80 or more students registered.
“This is a huge accomplishment for many of our students, and we are excited for them to advance medicine for life in residency programs across the country,” says Angela Kashuba, Dean of the School. “All of our students are making our School proud as they pursue employment prospects, postdoctoral fellowships and residency opportunities, and become the next generation of health care leaders. I know they will take ‘The Eshelman Way’ with them as they continue to serve patients and provide healthier lives for all.”
Join us in congratulating all the students who matched!
