Hark the Sound is a series exploring music playlists curated by faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

For this edition of Hark the Sound we have tapped the student group, Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA) to give us some of their favorite songs. Each member of the PPA Executive Board contributed two songs to the playlist. Enjoy!

The mission of the PPA is to advance pediatric pharmacy practice, support the health and well-being of children, and promote safe and effective medication use in children through Collaboration, Advocacy, Research, and Education. Throughout the year they host guest lectures, residency panels, and volunteer opportunities.

One perennial favorite volunteer opportunity PPA connects students with is interacting with pediatric patients at the UNC Children’s Hospital Pediatric Playroom. Fall 2023 will be the first time since before COVID that the Pediatric Playroom is open to volunteer groups again. “We are extremely excited for the opportunity to volunteer and interact with pediatric patients,” says President Elect, Emilia Pieta. “Especially since this will be the first time current PPA members and Executive Board can volunteer at the Pediatric Playroom.”

PPA’s faculty advisor is Dr. Carmen Echols, a pediatric clinical pharmacist with a focus on pediatric pulmonary and inpatient pediatric stem cell transplant. Dr. Echols also precepts for second-year residents in Acute Care Pediatrics.

Thank you to the Pediatric Pharmacy Association for the music playlist!
